  1. Greeting & Lesson Overview

    • “Hello and welcome to today’s class…”

    • Objectives: identify all Yoruba letters, understand missing/extra characters, grasp diacritic use

  2. Core Alphabet Presentation

    • Consonants: B, D, G, K, S, Ṣ

    • Vowels: A, À, Á; E, È, É; I; O, Ò, Ó; U

    • Note absence of C, F, J, L, M, N, P, Q, R, T, V, W, X, Y, Z

  3. Diacritic Explanation & Demonstration

    • Under-dot (e.g. Ṣ vs. S)

    • Grave accent for low tone (À, È, Ò)

    • Acute accent for high tone (Á, É, Ó)

    • How the same base letter changes sound: A vs. À vs. Á, O vs. Ò vs. Ó

  4. Pronunciation Drill

    • Instructor recites each letter twice (plain, then marked)

    • Learner repeats along, focusing on tone differences
